The Day Jenzo Rolled Into Town

15 02 2009

It has been a blinding weekend. Jenzo came to visit Lestaaa and we have had many, many fun times going into town and buying lampshades (I know how to show a girl a good time), playing DVD Catchphrase and drinking. Very big drinking. Loved being her tour guide, she saw all the best places.

We went to the Hub for a couple of shots of very strong Christmas on Friday night before heading off to see Cyantific at Superfly with Tanda and Ema. Bloody amazing set, but the crowd was a bit odd. We soon forgot about that after yet more tequila. Oh tequila.

Saturday was spent being a bit spaced out and wandering the streets of Lesta looking at all the sights, sounds and charity shops before being ripped off by Sainsburys (checkout girl stole our pineapple juice!), making coffee and falling asleep in front of Dogma (£4 down the charity shop get in!). Then it was an evening of cooking pizza, drinking gin and getting down to 9 Bar for their 12th Birthday. Amazing ice sculpture shot slide, phat beats and many, many drinks. We danced like the crazies before walking to Esko afterwards and dancing like more crazies. It was much fun. I am very tired. We ate pizza at 5am. Ohh yeahh. My brain has ceased to function.

Ace weekend, loveth thou Jenzo.

I won tings!

11 02 2009

Forgot to write about this but aaaaages ago Ethical Superstore ran a competition to win copies of ‘What About China’, a very hard hitting and informative book about climate change. To win you had to post a fact or opinion about climate change, and the best 10 got copies of the book.

Here is my book winning entry:
Lauren Ramskir 6th August 2008

“An observation: the last time there was a major temperature change was the ice age. Everything died. Do we really want to experience that again?”

I’m only halfway through the book but it is a brilliant and informative read which I would recommend. Also, I got it free which is even better.

Muuuusiccccckkkkkkkk

Geeking out with Gemma tonight over music. It was ace. Have never played on Traktor Scratch before but it was lovely. Have rediscovered reggae and made new dancing playlist (separate things, although I could dance to reggae but it would be a bit odd).

Heavy heart. But I adore that everyone is doing what they want in life, or at least taking steps towards what they want. Everything is changing. I am fighting the impulse to move out too, just to find somewhere with higher ceilings so I can do some practise once in a while.

This weekend is going to be proactive. Am going to make dancing website and start advertising. Not sure if anything will come of it but I’m going to try. Try, try try.

Jim and I made this as part of December’s Bulb Studios Creative Jam. We had such a laugh doing it! Can’t wait for the next one!

The Great Bulb West End Christmas Party Competition

5 02 2009

Should have blogged about this ages ago because it happened before Christmas, but it still feels fresh.

The Bulb Studios Christmas Party was immense. We went everywhere and did everything, from bowling to shooting basketball hoops to darts, all in the name of friendly competition. The prize was a tankard with £100 in it, and it was a showdown between Rob and Jim at the bitter end. Jim came out on top, but his wife spirited away the cash before he ever laid eyes on it! Such is marriage 😉

Below are a selection of my favourite photos, courtesy of Rob on Bulb Studios Flickrstream.

Mat had many, many fun times.

I kicked Tanda’s arse at Jenga. Oh yes.

Gala Bowls for the first time.

Lovingly decorating the ham.

The wife and I do the dancing thing. This was before she jumped through a moving car window. Never a dull moment!
